Case study: developing online retail solutions

In 2020, two experienced kiwi founders decided to turn their vast experience of running online shopping services for humans into an online shopping service entirely for pets and PetDirect was born.

PetDirect was experiencing growing pains and needed to prepare their people function for the next level of growth. They had a number of people-related challenges, including disjointed leadership, low engagement and productivity in some teams, and difficulty retaining key staff.

We helped PetDirect’s leadership team to build a clear vision and purpose and bring this to life for their people. We levelled up their leadership capability, providing coaching and leadership development workshops, as well as advice and guidance around performance, team culture, engagement and talent management. We also helped them understand each other and work together as a leadership team using DiSC profiling to provide unique insights. Lastly, we helped them find and hire the people they needed to continue this growth, including a Warehouse Manager and full-time in-house Head of People and Culture.
